First Up
Protecting Your Outdoor Space

Your home's exterior is its first line of defense against Queenstown's four seasons. Before we break out the brushes, we'll make sure everything's sorted:
- We'll shift your outdoor furniture to a safe spot
- Those prized plants? We'll cover them up nice and cozy
- Anything attached to the walls gets a protective wrap
It's all about keeping your outdoor area as pristine as those Wakatipu views. No worries, no hassles - that's how we roll.

Prepping Your Walls
The Crucial Bit Most Folks Forget

Right, let's get your walls ready for their new look. Queenstown weather can be tough on exteriors, so we'll:
- Give everything a good clean - no grime left behind
- Scrape off any peeling paint - it's got to go
- Replace any rotted wood - can't paint over problems
- Fill up those cracks and gaps - smooth as
- Sand it all down - for that perfect finish
- Chuck on some quality primer - it's the key to long-lasting color

The Clean Up
Leaving your place better than we found it

We reckon the job's not done until everything's spick and span. Here's our post-paint routine:
- Pack up all our gear and any leftover materials
- Give your outdoor area a good sweep and tidy
- Put all your outdoor bits and bobs back where they belong
- One last walk around to make sure you're chuffed with the result

"Our experience with Dan and his team was excellent from beginning to end. They were respectful, polite and even went as far as highlighting a small repair issue on our roof and fixed it too. We would highly recommend Dan and his team and we will be definitely using his services again in the future."

Fernhill Deck Repaint with Weather-Resistant Finish
This elevated Fernhill deck in Queenstown was suffering from widespread paint failure, with extensive flaking and weather damage across the surface. We fully restored the deck using a thorough sanding process, followed by a premium coat of Resene Lumbersider — a trusted, weather-resistant paint ideal for outdoor timber. The result is a sharp, durable finish that will stand up to the changing alpine conditions and add long-term value to the home.

Roof Repaint - Queenstown residence
A full‑roof repaint of a corrugated metal roof on a Queenstown home—restoring its weather protection, curb‑appeal and service life.

Cedar Restain at Millbrook Resort
We restored the natural beauty of a premium cedar-clad home in the Millbrook Resort with a careful restain that refreshed and protected the timber exterior.
Exterior Painting FAQs
Everything you need to know about exterior painting in Queenstown's alpine climate.
Late spring through early autumn (October to April) is ideal. We need dry weather, temperatures above 10°C, and low humidity for paint to cure properly. Summer is our busiest season, so book early. We can occasionally work in winter during settled periods, but expect longer drying times and potential weather delays.
A standard 3-4 bedroom house takes 7-10 working days, depending on prep requirements and weather. Larger homes, multi-story properties, or those needing significant repairs can take 2-3 weeks. We plan around Queenstown's weather—if rain's forecast, we'll pause and resume when conditions are right rather than risk a subpar finish.
Yes. We replace rotted weatherboards, repair cracks, fix damaged trim, and address any structural issues we find. It's critical to fix these before painting—otherwise you're just covering up problems. We'll quote repair work separately so you know exactly what's involved and can prioritize based on budget.
Typically every 8-12 years, but it depends on your cladding, paint quality, and sun exposure. North and west-facing walls cop more UV and fade faster. If you're seeing chalking, peeling, or cracks, it's time. Regular maintenance (washing, touch-ups) can extend the life of your paintwork significantly.
We water-blast the entire exterior, scrape off loose paint, sand rough areas, fill cracks and gaps, treat any mold or mildew, and apply primer where needed. Proper prep is 60% of the job—it's what separates a 3-year paint job from a 10-year one. We don't cut corners here, even if it takes longer.
We can work in winter if conditions are right—dry, mild days with temps above 10°C and low wind. It's less predictable, so timelines are looser. If you need urgent work (weathertightness issues, urgent sale prep), we'll do our best. Otherwise, we recommend waiting for spring when we can guarantee consistent progress.
Absolutely. We can recommend colors that suit Queenstown's landscape and your home's architecture. We'll show you samples in different lights (morning, afternoon), suggest combinations for weatherboards and trims, and help you avoid colors that fade quickly in our harsh UV. It's part of the service—no extra charge.
We do a lot of work for property managers and landlords in Queenstown. We understand the need for quick turnarounds between tenants, competitive pricing, and quality that'll last. We can provide detailed quotes for insurance or maintenance planning, and we're happy to coordinate directly with tenants for access if needed.
